Reading Haydn Choir invites you to join us for our Spring Concert on Saturday 26th of March at 7.30pm at St Joseph’s College, Upper Redlands Road Reading RG1 5JT. We’ll be singing Mozart’s requiem and a number of ecclesiastical pieces by Bach and Bruckner, with a professional orchestra and soloists. St Joseph’s main hall, where we’ll be performing, provides a well-ventilated space and covid safety measures will be in place.

Anna Cooper began her musical career as a choral scholar for Levens Choir and received wonderful support to aid her music making. She will be joining the choir once again to sing the solos in Vaughan William’s Sea Symphony. A beautiful soundscape of colours, emotions and sonority.

This year the Tour will include Frederic Wake-Walker’s striking new production of Fidelio alongside revivals of Mariame Clément’s Don Pasquale and John Cox’s production of The Rake’s Progress, designed by David Hockney. There will also be concert performances of Handel’s rousing oratorio Messiah and screenings of Charlie Chaplin’s City Lights, accompanied by a live orchestra.
We will also be hosting The Glyndebourne Christmas Concert with the Glyndebourne Chorus and Glyndebourne Tour Orchestra performing some operatic and festive favourites, on 8, 9, 11 and 12 December.

An arranged marriage. A sitcom-style luggage mix up. Swapped identities. Falling in love while in disguise. L’occasione fa il ladro has it all – it’s crammed full of classic comedy opera tropes but manages to still be funny. Like genuinely laugh-out-loud funny.
British Youth Opera is a training programme for young professionals. All participants onstage and behind the scenes, from singers to stage management, are at the beginning of their careers in opera.

A concert celebrating the songs of three unsung geniuses. Two are centenary celebrations: Sir Malcolm Arnold, best known for his film music, including The Bridge on the River Kwai for which he won an Oscar, and Peter Wishart. They are joined in this concert by Geoffrey Bush, born in 1920, whose songs rival and in fact surpass any other English song composer of the 20th century in their lyrism and beauty.
